Clean, basic living at a price

Dune Point, like anything on Fire Island, is overpriced for what you get. If you put them elsewhere where there were not a captive audience, they wouldn't last a month. That being said, they are clean and comfortable, although small and cramped. I am concerned about the multiple e-mails which state "due to New York Occupancy Laws" you are prohibited from having anyone enter your room (this includes during the day). I was unable to locate what "laws" they are referring to and although I'm sure their thinly-veiled threat is designed to prevent 5 guys from splitting a room designed for two, if I met someone on the beach and wanted an "afternoon delight", as the renter of the space, I feel that this is an unwarranted intrusion into my privacy and think their claim is unfounded and possibly illegal. Their reservation system has something to be desired, as they CANCELLED my reservation without warning when I didn't call to put a deposit on it immediately (they would take reservations from the prior year, but wouldn't secure them at that time). I was lucky and caught this in time so I wouldn't lose my room. All-in-all, Fire Island in general is costly and low-quality, Dune Point is just like everything else there -- I don't think I shall return anytime soon.
