Be care of the blackboard specials

I've walked past this place for years, it's right on the corner of "Gay and Gayer" in Palm Springs (Arenas & Indian Canyon). On a Sunday night they were pretty full and I was solo and the only table was a high top by the front window which was great. Friendly welcome, good service...interesting menu and they have a black board with specials, but no prices. Loooking at the menu I thought the place was competitively priced and just ordered off the blackboard...wrong thing to do, $10 for a tiny Brussel sprouts salad and $30 for Swordfish pushing those items up quite a bit from what normal menu prices were. The food was excellent, and service as well, but I was a bit blindsided when my bill came.

Great location great food a bit pricey, owner is a bit full of himself don't walk in with a Starbucks coffee in hand you will be asked to leave..

What? You haven't been here yet?!?!

We go to Johannes every time we are in PS and are never disappointed. The menu is a bit more on the upscale/creative side, focusing on seasonal local and/or sustainable meats and produce, but isn't outrageously over priced. They offer a great drinks menu and wine list. The staff is always super friendly. It's a great place for a quiet dinner for 2 or a small group. Go, you won't be disappointed. * * *
