About

This space houses two auditoriums that present cinematic experiences and visual arts that reflect the spirit of Chelsea.

From the Owner

The SVA Theatre is the cultural center of New York's artistically vibrant Chelsea neighborhood, reflecting the high standards of the School of Visual Arts and serving the college, the arts and entertainment industries, and the New York community as a stage for the presentation of noteworthy artistic work. Opened in 2009 after being re-envisioned by celebrated designer Milton Glaser, the venue hosts public and private events year round, and its elegant lobby and two cinema-style theaters (seating 479 and 266 respectively) are available for a wide variety of uses. Many of the events hosted by SVA are free and open to the public, and we're happy to consider a theater rental for all types of events -- please visit our website for more information!
