Unlike most Off-Broadway theatres, York Theatre Company focuses exclusively on musical theatre — both new works and overlooked classics. Since 1997, Artistic Director James Morgan has steered this intimate venue toward developing and reviving musicals, earning a special Drama Desk Award in 2006 for its contributions. Founded in 1969 by Janet Hayes Walker, York has produced over 60 full-scale musicals and recorded more than 30 cast albums.
